EDUCATIONAL VISION

Everyone feels welcome at the SMART Caribbean courses and everyone belongs. The teachers do everything they can to guide you through your studies in a way that suits you. This requires your involvement and active commitment. Together we make education.

Characteristic of the education of SMART Caribbean is the attention to:

• The knowledge base of the training
• Practical assignments
• Your own professional identity

All these elements are always discussed during the training. At the start of your study, the emphasis is on developing knowledge and skills, but practicality is also discussed immediately. You learn to tackle real professional issues, in collaboration with fellow students, lecturers and professionals from the field. First you get a lot of guidance from your teacher, later you take matters into your own hands. During your studies you get to know yourself better and you discover what your unique qualities are as a professional.

CREDIT POINTS

Your study load is expressed in credits (EC) according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). For each subject it has been determined how many credits (EC) you will receive for this. If you follow the full Associate degree program, the following study load applies:

60 credits (EC) per year
2 years x 60 = 120 credits (EC) in total
1 credit (EC) stands for an average of 28 hours of study load

FIRST YEAR

As a 3-year full-time program, the program has an average study load of 40 hours per week. You attend lectures on average four days a week and you also work on projects and practical components. Each academic year is divided into four periods of 11/12 teaching weeks. In the first year you will have lectures, projects, group assignments and exams. In addition, you focus on sharpening your skills, such as in the field of communication.

SPECIALIZATION YEAR

In the second year you will choose a specialization. Then you go deep into the material. You will attend lectures during your studies. You also carry out practical assignments, alone or with your fellow students.

GRADUATION PHASE / INTERNSHIP

In the final year you will choose a MINOR and you will spend a lot of time on your graduation report and graduation. Your MINOR has a total of 30 EC points.
Minors are offered to give students the opportunity to develop broadly. Society changes very quickly and it is important that you also have highly educated people who have a broad knowledge.
